Assemble With Joy - July 6th
Wednesday, July 6th
5:30-8:00PM
Please join us for an empowering and inspiring evening with Joy Flynn!!
We’ve discussed the importance of self care at our previous events…. we know that as women who are constantly multitasking and taking on the many to-do’s of life, taking care of ourselves is crucial. As we explore ways to implement self care into our lives, it’s important to consider how accessibility to care impacts one’s health, and how we in this community can help support others who don’t have the same access and privilege as others.
For this event, Joy will lead us through a discussion about the Social Determinants of Health to uncover how factors such as socioeconomic status and race play a role in one’s well-being. In order to support one another, we must first understand the barriers others face. Let’s open the dialogue to discuss this important matter together!
Joy is a local activist who has worked extensively in this realm. She’s gained attention both locally and nationally as a social justice changemaker in the Santa Cruz area. She serves as an advisor for the Santa Cruz County Black Health Matters Initiative, works closely with the Second Harvest Food Bank, is a founding member of the Santa Cruz County Black Coalition for Justice and Racial Equity, was the 2020 Officer Jim Howes Award recipient and last year’s KSBW Jefferson Award winner. Most recently, the Santa Cruz County Women’s Commission awarded her with the Trailblazer Award for her anti-racism and social justice work.
We’ll have snacks provided by Carla from Wild Bite and two local female makers selling their goods, Akasha Apothecary and All That Glitters!
We hope you can join us!!
