EmpoweHERment Self-Defense Workshop
We are excited to announce that this month we’ll be offering a women’s self-defense workshop!
Friend and local business owner Justine Willeford from @pelicanhousesc came to us a few months back and suggested that we offer an event to help local women and business owners feel safer - a self defense class to empower the many women in our community who often work alone. We loved this idea and couldn’t wait to bring it to life!
We connected with Quincy Torres, a 1st degree black belt, who graciously offered to lead us through an intro to jiu-jitsu class with an emphasis on self-defense. She comes with over 14 years of experience and is passionate about sharing these empowering techniques with women. She competes and has medaled in many tournaments. It is also something she enjoys doing with her whole family…even her granddaughter!
Our goal for this event is to raise each other up as women and instill confidence in one another…specifically when it comes to matters of personal safety. We will be addressing common concerns, finding support through sisterhood, and learning some jiu-jitsu-inspired self-defense moves.
Join us for this fun + strengthening afternoon where we can share in a thoughtful discussion, learn new skills, and move our bodies.
Important Notes:
We’ll provide snacks + sips for you to enjoy
Please wear comfortable workout clothing. No baggy shirts, no zippers or buttons, and we suggest you bring some slip-on shoes to take on and off easily.
If you’d like to join but are experiencing financial hardship, please reach out to us about our sliding fee scale- we don’t want finances to be the reason you don’t come!
We understand life comes up and are happy to refund you with 24 hours’ notice… we’ll do our best to fill your spot, but cannot guarantee a refund otherwise. Thanks for your understanding.
Space will be limited to 30 people
A detailed email will be sent out to all attendees before the event!
